Siren Middle School

The four core classes (English, math, science, and social studies) are the main focus in junior high, but the students are given the chance to be involved in many other things such as athletics, spirit weeks, performances, and elective classes. Due to the small-community atmosphere, Siren Middle School is a place where everyone knows everyone and the students receive lots of one-on-one attention. How can I get in touch with a teacher? To reach a teacher its best to call them or email them. Their extenstions and email addresses are located on each of their class information pages.

What does my student do in their 4X4 classes? Every four weeks your student experiences a new "4x4" course. The offerings include art, FACE (family and consumer education), tech ed/shop, and Middle school computers. These courses are very hands-on and teach your student vital skills. The 4x4 classes are also your student's first introduction to the high school, as all 4x4 teachers are primarily housed in the high school wing. Your student learns how to cook, use woodworking tools, use different software programs, and create pottery, to name just a few activities.

How often will I be updated on my student's progress? With new technology Siren School District gives you the opportunity to use Parent Portal. Parent Portal gives you the chance to check your student(s) grades whenever it is convient for you. If you don't already have one you can check in with Pam at the office and she can help you get started. To go to the Parent Portal page click here. If you do not have internet access at home teachers periodically hand out grade reports in class for your student to bring home. Also, parents can come in during parent-teacher confrences in the fall and spring for one-on-one with the students teachers.
