NHS MEMBERSHIP SELECTION PROCESS

1.  Students at the end of their sophomore or junior year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher will be sent a letter inviting them to complete a Student Activity Form and submit it by a specified date.

2. Student Activity Forms will be submitted to the five-member NHS Faculty Council, who will review them, ranking each candidate on a 4 point scale. (NHS faculty members are chosen by the principal to serve a 1 year term.  Faculty members may be asked to serve consecutive terms.)

3. The high school faculty will rate each candidate on a 4 point scale in the areas of Leadership, Service and Character, based on their personal knowledge of the students.

4. The Faculty Council will conduct interviews with the candidates, discussing information provided in Student Activity Forms as well as information provided by staff.

5.   The Faculty Council will determine which candidates will be selected for membership and shall notify the NHS advisor and the principal.
